How to Grade a 50-Question Test
Grading a 50-question test is straightforward once you know the formula. Divide the number of correct answers by 50, then multiply by 100 to get the percentage. Then match that percentage to the grading scale.
The Formula
(Correct Answers ÷ 50) × 100 = Percentage
Then use the grading scale: A = 90-100%, B = 80-89%, C = 70-79%, D = 60-69%, F = 0-59%
Worked Example
Sophia’s full-length diagnostic: Sophia got 42 correct out of 50. Their score is (42 ÷ 50) × 100 = 85%. That’s a B (solid performance).
What Each Question Is Worth on a 50-Question Test
On a 50-question test, each question is worth exactly 2.0% of your grade. This means every single question matters.
Understanding per-question value helps you make quick estimates. If you miss one question, subtract 2.0% from 100% to get your score. Missing two questions? Subtract 4.0% from your total.
